| First Customer Need: |
| • Customer A was using three different plugs on seven different cords. |
| • SAFCO Solution: We were able to standardize their applications and reduce the number of SKUs to four using only two different plugs. This provided the customer with reduced costs due to increased volume and inventory savings through standardization. |
| Second Customer Need: |
| • Customer B was offering a cord set as an accessory for a battery operated product. This required them to handle assembly, unit packaging and shipment packaging along with the control of various parts in inventory. |
| • SAFCO Solution: We now supply the cord set complete with molded connector, in the point-of-purchase retail package, packed in the shipping container with their bar coded labels. By providing a turnkey product, SAFCO reduce the customers handling and inventory costs. |
| Third Customer Need |
| • Customer C was using a molded connector on their cord providing power to their unit. They needed protection against reverse polarity. |
| • SAFCO Solution: We redesigned the connector to accommodate a diode that is now molded into the connector. This innovative design reduced returns and improved product performance. |
| Fourth Customer Need: |
| • Customer D needed a system solution to power and charge a transportable GPS device in a mobile environment. |
| • SAFCO Solution: We started with the SAFCO “Autoswitch” for the power and charging system. The Autoswitch intelligent charger senses when the vehicle is on or off, providing power to the GPS only when the vehicle is running. A custom circuit was then created to power and charge the NiMH battery pack. Finally, SAFCO designed a custom plastic cradle to hold the charging circuit and battery pack. In the spirit of a partner relationship, SAFCO's engineering staff assumed responsibility for developing this custom solution. |
