SAFCO HISTORY

Founded in 1936 as A.G. Busch & Company, the company is credited with the development and patent of the cigarette lighter adapter plug. This invention coupled with other innovative designs, created a line of low voltage products for the electronic, automotive, hardware and marine markets under the SAFCO ® trademark. This trademark became a recognized symbol of quality throughout the world.

In 1972, Bruce Creger and Richard Wharton acquired A.G. Busch and set upon a course to expand the product line and markets served. Not only did SAFCO become the largest and premier supplier of low voltage power cord sets, but the company also developed new technology in communication and navigation systems as well as diagnostic test equipment for the emerging cellular industry. It was during this period that Safco entered the international markets selling product and sourcing manufacturing worldwide. These new technologies resulted in the emergence of the Electronics Systems Division. This division was sold in 1996, returning Safco to its core business of customized low voltage power solutions.

In 2004, Nelson Head acquired a partnership interest in Safco and has joined the company focusing primarily on sales and marketing. Today, Safco designs and manufacturers custom low voltage power solutions to the exacting specifications of its OEM customers. Leveraging the engineering competency, international sourcing and inventory management, Safco is capable of tackling the ever-increasing manufacturing demands of its customers.
