CORDS

While the wire on you cord set may seem like a simple decision, the gauge, jacketing, length and stranding may be critical to the continuous, high performance of your application. SAFCO stocks and processes wire in a wide variety of gauges, configurations, jacketing material and certifications to meet our customer's wide array of specifications. At your request, we will apply our 50 years of experience in the low voltage field to recommending the proper cord for your product and design.

STRAIGHT WIRE
•  SAFCO stocks wire in gauges ranging from 12 AWG through 28 AWG
•  Most of our designs incorporate 2-conductor wire. However, we do stock a variety of multi-conductor wire as well
•  Jacketing material includes PU, PVC, TPE and in gloss or matte finish
•  The style of the wire varies from bonded, rip cord, round and X-wire
•  Standard colors are black with inner conductors in red, white, black and green. Custom colors can be accommodated

COILED CORDS
•  SAFCO's capabilities include the manufacturing of coiled cords
-----•  ID of the coiled cord ranges from 3/16” to ¾”
-----•  Maximum retracted length is 30”. Rated length (extended) is normally 6
------- times the retracted length.
•  In order to achieve sufficient retractile characteristics in a coiled cord, SAFCO recommends using wire with copper stranding of no less than 41 strands
•  Not all petroleum-based materials are suitable for coiling.
-----•  If you are looking for a soft feel, easy extension and relatively low pressure
------- on receptacles, then PVC will work just fine
-----•  For stronger retractile characteristics we would recommend PU or TPE.
------- This will mean more pressure is required to extend the coil cord.
-----•  Depending on the environment in which your application will be used,
------- temperature ratings of certain materials will affect retractile characteristics
